Come join NatureCITE botanists for an in-depth introduction to the flora and ecology of the Flint Hills. This four-day workshop will begin with a half day review of common plant terminology and plant families. The rest of the week will be held in the field learning a wide range of plant species in a variety of natural communities with a focus on vegetative characters. We will also discuss current topics in tallgrass prairie management and ecology; some of which may surprise you. This one of a kind workshop will be taught by Jacob Hadle and Justin Thomas who have over 30 years combined botanical experience. Through this workshop you will be able to more easily identify not only the common prairie plants but also difficult groups such as grasses, sedges, legumes, and composites. And we’ll have fun doing it!
