Description: Come join NatureCITE botanists for a fun and educational time in the exquisite Smoky Hills of Kansas while we learn to identify some of the more interesting plants that this unique landscape has to offer. This two day workshop will begin with a half day review of common plant terminology and plant families. The remaining time will be spent in the field learning a wide range of plant species in several unique plant communities. In this workshop we will discuss many core plant species as well as difficult plant groups such as grasses, sedges, legumes, and composites. This beautiful landscape will not only take your breath away, but you might be surprised to learn how botanically and ecologically diverse these sandstone mixed-grass prairies truly are. This new workshop in the Smoky Hills welcomes all skill levels; enthusiasts and professionals.
